Rescueware project launches to strengthen hospital resilience against ransomware

The Rescueware project brings together InvisibleLab Technologies, INESC TEC and ULSAM in a joint R&D effort to improve protection and data recovery against ransomware attacks, with a primary focus on the healthcare sector.

Officially started on 1 January 2026, this project was developed in response to the growing threat of ransomware targeting hospitals and other critical services. Rescueware aims to create an innovative platform capable of detecting attacks, protecting sensitive data and restoring previous data versions after an incident. By reducing service downtime and helping organisations recover without paying ransoms, Rescueware seeks to reinforce operational continuity and patient safety in increasingly digital healthcare environments.
